Europe: Lyon

Our longest flight ever - 15 hours including 2 hours stopover at DXB and i'm so glad we got to fly by Emirates. The seating space was so comfy and spacious, crew was friendly (and very good looking), and the food was damn yumz, best airplane food i've ever eaten hands down. I wasn't expecting a lot for our meals on board but after the first dinner we had, i always looked forward to reading the food menus whenever they passed it to us.

Went to get a SIM card immediately after we arrived from one of the convenience stores 'Relay'. Think the both of us spent about SGD $50-60  for 1GB of data from the Telco SFR. We thought it wouldn't be enough but we used damn sparingly and jew-ed wifi whenever possible so we used only about 500MB during our stay in Lyon/Paris.

Grabbed a sandwich and hot chocolate while we waited for our train to Lyon 'cause we were cold and hungry. But it was a huge disappointment and it costed us so much zzz

Holding on to our bags/luggages no matter what 'cause we didn't want to come back with theft stories to tell

Boarding our train to Lyon from the airport! Journey took around 2hours.

Walked for about 20-30mins from the train station to our hotel. It could've been a shorter walk but we went one big round 'cause we were still lost and all xD Also, we chose to stay at a hotel 'cause we didn't have the guts to rent a airbnb place, we were damn scared the host would be some mean or scary person hahaha noobs. But the hotel wasn't that expensive, location was good, cleanliness affirmed and had damn good breakfast so i guess we got that going for us.
Room was super small but cosy
Side Note: Every time we watched TV it would be some news channel because that's the ONLY channel that was aired in english wtf. Even popular shows like 'Friends' was aired in french lol.

It was around late afternoon/evening time when we reached our hotel and settled down so we spent the rest of the day at the nearby mall and familiarising ourselves with the surrounding shops :)

After walking around the whole mall, we finally decided to settle our dinner at a sandwich/baguette stall (out of the thousands of similar stalls they have there).  Our first legit french baguette and it didn't disappoint us at all :)

The filling was just normal ham and cheese (if i rmb correctly), but the bread was just so good. You could hear the sound of crispiness with every bite you took. Lol doing a damn bad job explaining but the bread was just damn good ok trust me. You can randomly buy a baguette from any stall there and it'll taste good xD

Second day in Lyon!

Our first stop was a Food Market and i think we might have misinterpreted their idea of a food market because the things that they sold there were all fresh food like vegetables, fruits, spices, meat etc etc and not cooked food haha. But they really looked good, like if i were there to shop for groceries i would've bought lots of things.

Managed to get a grilled chicken drumstick and some potatoes there though! And it was by far one of the best drumsticks i've ever eaten. Craving for it right now as i type this post D:

Pretty cathedrals and buildings wherever we went. Anywhere and everywhere provided such good backdrops for photos.

We were wondering if tourists came to Sg would they think HDBs are cool and start camwhoring in front of it? 'Cause we took photo of so many buildings/houses and i seriously love all the apartments there they look so cosy inside : )

Our next stop was one of the newer and bigger shopping mall in Lyon but it was such a disappointment :( The brands there were so mainstream and common and NOT ANY CHEAPER. So i didn't get to buy much :( And it looked so big from the outside but there were so little shops inside because each shop took up like the space of 2 shops you see in Sg???

Had our first french pasta (Tortellini) in a cup but it wasn't THAT good. The worker there was really friendly though, guiding us step-by-step on how to order : )

The hotel we stayed in Lyon

Day 3 in Lyon!

Paid 9 Euros for the hotel breakfast and it was so worth it!!! The variety of food was very limited, only 5-6 types, but every single thing we ate was damn goooooood. The croissant and baguette with strawberry jam was my fav. Followed by the potato gratin - which i tried to making once but failed so badly because i didn't know how it was actually supposed to taste like. Shall try making it again when i'm free :) The ham was damn good too!!! Didn't really like the crepe/pancake thing 'cause it tasted like play-doh lol.

Such pretty skiessssss

One of the prettiest photos i took during the trip

Bf can't appreciate my building-with-sky-as-backdrop photos but i love them so muchhhh

Freaking tired from climbing all the way up lol

Thank god for the good weather and clear skies when we climbed uphill to visit the main tourist attraction in Lyon: Basilique Notre Dame de Fourviere. Gotta be the prettiest cathedral i've visited. But they didn't allow photo-taking inside so i can't share with y'all how pretty it looks :( But you can still appreciate the architecture on the outside :)

Took a few shots inside damn stealthily so the angles are like shit xD

Visited some museum after the church and it was...... kinda boring lol. They showcased the actual props used in the making of some movies and the last 2 floors had like a miniature exhibition where everything was just..... tiny lor xD

Hamburger with fries

One of the best hot chocolates we drank albeit a little too sweet. Regret not buying a few sticks back :(
Walked back to our hotel to rest for awhile before leaving again for the largest park in Lyon where there's a mini zoo and lots of flower exhibition. I WAS SO EXCITED FOR IT CAUSE Y'KNOW, FLOWERS AND ANIMALS???? AND IT WAS FREE???????

Reached at around evening time and went to see the deers first :) It was getting dark around 5pm and i was starting to emo and all 'cause i just knew we wouldn't get to see anything else once it gets dark  :(

And i was right because the flower exhibition was closed already by the time we reached. And the animals were back in their enclosures :( I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED AND SAD OMG. D: Oh wells, life goes on.

Left for the train station the next morning to catch our train back to Paris :)

 See you next time Lyon!
